The 6th Global Supertrends Forum was held virtually on 28 October 2021. Each year we focus on the Supertrends that we predict will drive change and generate investment opportunities in the years to come.
The COVID-19 pandemic has proven to be a great disruptor, accelerating progress in some fields such as technology, but reversing hard-fought gains in other areas, including poverty, health, quality education, and gender equality.
Governments, businesses, and citizens are now looking at how to “build back better” in the post-COVID world. While the pandemic will pass, the world will likely keep this objective firmly in mind when addressing the significant challenges that lie ahead in steering our economies and societies toward a more inclusive and sustainable future.
At this year’s Forum, Julia Baird, broadcaster and author interviewed Dr. Parag Khanna, Global Strategy Advisor, on the emerging trends accelerated by COVID – the new centres of commerce and growth, migration patterns and demographics, and the impact of climate change.
Kara Frederick, MD Tiger Financial, Director and early stage investor, Tritium, EV fast charging company and Annie Liu, Non-Executive Director, Vulcan Energy and ex Head of Battery and Energy Supply Chains, Tesla, discussed sustainable transport in a decarbonising World.
A post pandemic infrastructure boom will have a heavy emphasis on sustainability and we discussed these opportunities with institutional global infrastructure investors Aaron McGovern from IFM Investors and Vittorio Lacagnina from Partners Group.
Hosted by Michael Marr, Head of Private Banking Australia and New Zealand, Credit Suisse and Andrew McAuley, Chief Investment Officer Australia, Credit Suisse, our experts covered the key trends shaping the future.
