Credit Suisse hosted its second Credit Suisse Asia Entrepreneurs' Forum with the theme “Seizing Opportunities in the Healthcare Boom” on May 9, 2018, at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta.
By 2050, it is expected that there will be a significant increase in senior citizens, meaning this unrelenting and seismic shift in the age composition of the population is expected to be a huge boon to the healthcare sector. Seven regional speakers including sector investment specialists and industry leaders from leading Indonesian and Southeast Asian entrepreneurs in the healthcare, pharmaceutical and hospitals sector spoke at the event, discussing emerging trends for the healthcare sector in Indonesia and across the Asia Pacific region, including disruption, digitalization, and expansion opportunities for businesses and investors in the healthcare sector.
Emerging Trends and Opportunities in Healthcare
In the first panel discussion, experts involved in the primary care business, as well as investment experts discussed the trends and opportunities in the healthcare sector. Panelists were Augusto Palisoc, Executive Director of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation and President and CEO of Metro Pacific Hospital Holdings Inc., Eng Aik Meng, Founding Board Member of TE Asia Healthcare Partners and CEO of TE Healthcare Advisory, and Ho Choon-Hou, Principal at Southern Capital Group.
Disruption in Healthcare
The second panel discussion focused on different types of disruption in the healthcare space – technological, biotech, medical breakthroughs and alternative medicines and techniques, and also how traditional players are reacting to this and what the motivations behind new players are. Panelists were Jonathan Sudharta, CEO and Co-Founder, Halodoc and Apotikantar, Buranut Limjitti, Senior Vice President, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Thailand, and Christian Schmid, Credit Suisse Asset Management Director and Fund Manager.
