Meet Jacqueline

Title: Vice President
Business Area: Investment Banking and Capital Markets
Location: Hong Kong SAR, China
Joined Credit Suisse: September 2009

I was born in Canada, but we moved to Hong Kong SAR when I was young. In high school I knew I wanted to study business and maybe eventually run my own company. That led me to major in finance and accounting at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

I joined Credit Suisse straight out of college after interning in the Hong Kong SAR office the summer before my senior year. What stood out about Credit Suisse was their focus on developing leaders who are also team players. The culture is about working together to excel. I worked as an Analyst for three years, an Associate for three years, and recently I was promoted to Vice President.

Meet Jacqueline graph, banker, team player, movie buff, pragmatist, foodie, optimist, globetrotter, mentor

Today, I am part of the Corporate Finance team that works with corporate clients across many sectors to provide solutions for their various funding or strategic needs. A lot of my time is spent on helping companies raise capital, such as through the equity capital markets, debt capital markets or loans, or providing advisory for M&A opportunities. I’m also the staffer for Corporate Finance Analysts and Associates, which means that if other teams need additional help with their projects, they come to me and I assign someone to help them.

Our office has worked on some landmark deals, such as the initial public offering of Alibaba. Even if you aren’t directly involved with those deals, it’s exciting to be a part of these transactions that make headlines. Everything we do is pretty dynamic. We work with so many different clients, and every transaction has its own challenges and nuances. The most rewarding aspect of my work is when a project is complete and I get to see our corporate clients get listed on a stock exchange or issue a bond.

I’m not going to sugar coat it. When we are in the middle of a big transaction, we work long hours. If I’m at my desk and working on a live transaction, I am probably on the phone working with different people to make sure the deal is executed smoothly.

In my free time, I like to spend time with my family, work out, try new restaurants and travel the world. I’m also a movie buff, especially American movies.
