Environment

It is our ambition to reach net zero by 2050 and we take environmental impacts into account when conducting our business. We develop sustainable products and services and address sustainability issues in our risk management.

Credit Suisse is committed to developing and supporting measures that contribute to a more environmentally sustainable economy. We believe that these efforts are in the interests of both our organization and clients and other stakeholders.

As a global financial institution, we recognize the role we have to play as a responsible facilitator in minimizing the impact of climate change. It is our ambition to reach net zero across our in-scope corporate lending and investment portfolios, own operations and supply chain by 2050. This approach is underpinned by interim goals by 2030.

We have a Climate Risk Strategy program and sector-specific policies and guidelines in place under which we work with our clients to support their transition to low-carbon and climate-resilient business models, and further integrate climate change into our broader risk management procedures.

In our banking businesses, environmental aspects are considered when managing transaction-related risks. To assess whether projects or client activities may pose a major risk to the environment, the climate or biodiversity, we apply our Reputational Risk Review Process.

Credit Suisse strives to use natural resources more efficiently and to minimize our operational footprint. To achieve this, we are implementing a variety of measures through our environmental management system (EMS), which is certified globally across the company in accordance with the ISO 14001:2015 standard. We have also set ourselves specific environmental targets in this regards.

Credit Suisse acknowledges the risks that arise from biodiversity loss as well as the impacts to biodiversity that may arise from our role as a financial services provider. Credit Suisse has long considered biodiversity impacts on financial markets, and our public Statement on Biodiversity describes our commitment and approach to addressing biodiversity loss.
