Fundraising: how to access venture opportunities
The panel, composed of representatives across capital pools, provided different perspectives on investing in the venture and private equity space. They discussed, among other things, the merits of crowd sourcing platforms, venture capital funds and co-investment programs.

Nicole started her career in venture capital, spending several years with the Sprout Group, Credit Suisse’s venture capital affiliate. She then helped to develop the bank’s buyout, mezzanine and other illiquid alternative businesses, also including joint ventures in various emerging markets and funds focused on sectors ranging from venture capital to infrastructure. She currently oversees Direct Equity Partners, Credit Suisse’s club co-investment program for families, making investments in late-stage venture capital, growth, buyouts and opportunistic real estate.
Luca Rancilio founded the family office Rancilio Cube, together with other members of the family. The structure is responsible for managing family assets in a professional manner and is in charge of making targeted investments in private equity and other asset classes. Luca, an impact investor and angel investor with Cube, likes to co-invest with other entrepreneurs. He is also a member of the board of Shark Bites spa, an Italian holding company.
Prior to joining Lansdowne as CEO in 2013, Alex was Executive Chairman of Investec’s UK investment banking division and also a board member of Investec Bank Plc. Alex founded Evolution Group Plc in 2001, which was later acquired by Investec Plc in 2011. He began his career in investment banking in 1992 at BZW and later, at Credit Suisse. Alex is a founder and deputy chairman of Oxford Sciences Innovation Plc, a company that invests in, develops and advises spin-out companies established to exploit and commercialise intellectual property developed by Oxford University.
Elan has over 18 years of extensive experience, focused on researching, raising capital for, and investing in Israeli companies. Before joining OurCrowd as a founding partner, he was the Managing Partner of the Prelude Israel Fund, a hedge fund focused on Israeli companies. Earlier, he was Head of Technology investment banking at Lehman Brothers, Israel, and a portfolio manager at a global $1.5 billion hedge fund with a focus on long/short, catalyst driven and special situation investing.
