John Metz is Managing Director of Credit Suisse and Global Head of Enterprise and Cloud Communications Banking within Credit Suisse’s Technology Banking Division. Based in San Francisco, Mr. Metz focuses primarily on enterprise, cloud and communications infrastructure, with particular focus on security, virtualization, networking and storage technologies.
Prior to joining Credit Suisse First Boston in 1998, Mr. Metz was a Vice President in the Debt Finance division of the DMG Technology Group specializing in providing structured finance and equity derivatives to the high tech industry. Prior to DMG, Mr. Metz was an Associate Director at BancAmerica Securities providing acquisition, recapitalization, and bridge financing in the private and public debt markets where he helped form Bank of America’s Mid-Cap Technology Division. In addition, Mr. Metz worked at Anderson Consulting as a clustered systems architect, specializing in the financial service industry.
Mr. Metz has led over 30 technology IPO’s, advised over $100 BN in technology mergers and acquisitions, and over $1 BN in technology private placements in his 22 year career as a technology banker. Mr. Metz has served on the Board of Directors of SVASE (Silicon Valley Association of Startup Executives) and has been a frequent lecturer on the subject of the Pan Asian Technology Industry at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. Mr. Metz has worked with and advised companies such as Arista Networks, 3Par, BlueCoat, Cisco, CommVault Systems, Dell, EMC, HP, IBM, McDATA, Mellanox, Micron, Microsoft, Netezza, Oracle, Palo Alto Networks, Raytheon, Riverbed, Sandisk, Symantec, VERITAS Software and VMware.
