Weimin Yang is currently Vice Chairman of the Economic Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC. He is recognized as a well-known economist and a top economic policy advisor in China. Mr. Yang served as Vice Chairman for the Office of the Central Finance and Economy Commission from 2011 to 2018, focusing on macro-economic policy and economic policy development in China. Before that, Mr. Yang served in the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) for 22 years, where he was responsible for formulating a series of industrial policies and long term and mid-term economy development plans.
Mr. Yang has been in the field of research and macro policy formation for medium- and long-term planning for many years. He participated in drafting the 18th Community Party of China (CPC) National Congress, the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Plenary Session of the CPC Central Committee and the 19th CPC National Congress report. He is a key member of the drafting group for the CPC Central Committee, which drafted the 11th Five-Year Plan, 12th Five-Year Plan and 13th Five-Year Plan. He was also one of the main writers of leaders’ speeches for the CPC Central Committee Economic Conference, the CPC Central Financial and Economic Conference and other important meetings.
