Songcheng Sheng

Counselor, People's Bank of China (PBOC), Ex-Director-General of the Department of Statistics and Research, PBOC

Songcheng Sheng has served in a wide range of positions with the Chinese central bank for more than 20 years. He has made significant contributions, in both theory and policy implications, in the fields of ‘aggregate finance to the real economy’ (AFRE, which describes the total financing from the financial system to the real economy during a certain period), capital account opening, and interest rate liberalization. In 2011, Mr. Sheng led a team that worked on the definition and compilation of AFRE, which has since become an influential economic indicator in macro-economic management.
