Director, Operational Due Diligence, University of Toronto Asset Management Corporation
Ben joined UTAM in May 2016 and is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of UTAM’s operational due diligence program. He is also responsible for working with the Chief Compliance Officer to develop and execute the compliance program.
Prior to joining UTAM, Ben was Senior Manager of Operational Due Diligence at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (“OTPP”). In this function, he was mandated to identify and mitigate operational risks related to OTPP’s global external manager investment program which included comprehensive due diligence on managers and service providers, and supporting the Investment Division with deal structuring. Before joining OTPP he was a Senior Manager at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (“CPPIB”) where he performed multiple operational roles including investment related compliance functions, fund level management reporting, public equity accounting and culminated in the establishment of an operational due diligence function for the external manager investment program. Previously, Ben held progressively senior positions with Fortis Prime Fund Solutions, a Cayman-based fund administrator.
Ben is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, receiving his qualification in 2001 while working with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Toronto.
