EGM of Wholesale Markets, AGL Energy
Prior to moving to Australia in 1996, Richard was involved in the UK electricity industry in the contract and trading areas of two of the largest generators, PowerGen and British Energy.
Initially as a consultant in Australia, he was involved with a number of energy companies preparing for the National Electricity Market commencement. Subsequently Richard has worked at a number of energy organisations in Australia including the Electricity Trust of South Australia, the State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Loy Yang Power and now AGL.
Richard joined AGL in 2010 and has been the General Manager Wholesale Markets since 2011. The Wholesale Markets team is responsible for the procurement, trading, and price risk management of AGL’s wholesale electricity, gas, carbon, and renewable requirements. Richard also serves on the AEMC Reliability Panel that sets the reliability standards for the National Electricity Market.
Richard has just recently been appointed to the Executive team at AGL.
Richard has an economics background (BA (Hons) Economics) and has more than 22 years experience in the UK and Australian energy industries.
