Mr. Daniel Rupli, Managing Director and Head of Single Security Research, Equity & Credit was invited back once again to share Credit Suisse’s perspective on this Supertrend.  Joining him was Mr. Jens Zimmermann, Senior Equity Analyst, Energy & Utilities as the dialogue delved into the key sectors which can play a pivotal role to decarbonize economic growth in the years to come, particularly in the areas of power generation, fossil energy sources, transportation, agriculture and food production.

About the speakers

Daniel Rupli 

Managing Director and Head of Single Security Research, Equity & Credit, Credit Suisse

Daniel Rupli is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse in the Private Banking Division, based in Zurich. He is Head of Single Security Research within Investment Solutions Products - a division of International Wealth Management. 

As Head of Single Security Research Mr. Rupli is responsible for the bottom-up analysis for single companies assigning a fundamental view as well as providing investment recommendations on stocks and bonds. Further to this, he is also responsible for the thematic equity research delivery. Mr. Rupli represents Credit Suisse's research expertise in internal and external conferences and client meetings. 

Mr. Rupli joined Credit Suisse in 2009 as a Senior Credit Analyst within Investment Strategy Research. Prior to this, he worked in similar roles for another large Swiss bank. He has over 20 years of industry experience. He is a Swiss certified banking expert with federal diploma.

Mr. Scanlan is an expert in the Business of Telecommunications - managing of all aspects (concept to operations) of Telecommunications Carrier / Service Provider businesses. 

In the course of his career, Mr. Scanlan has worked with numerous Fixed and Mobile Operators, vendors, SI and Consulting companies in Asia-Pacific, Africa, North America and Europe.

Jens Zimmermann

Senior Equity Analyst, Energy & Utilities, Credit Suisse

Jens Zimmermann joined Credit Suisse in 2018 as a senior equity research analyst in the bank’s Investment Solutions & Products unit of the International Wealth Management division. In his role, he is responsible for the single security research of the energy and utility sectors in the US and in Europe as well as for the stock selection of the Supertrend ‘Infrastructure – closing the gap’. 

Mr. Zimmermann has worked for more than 15 years in equity research on the buy-side and on the sell-side, where he has covered companies from the energy, industrial, utilities, and transportation sectors. He started covering the energy sector as a buy-side equity analyst for ABN AMRO in 2005 and he has worked with energy consulting firm Wood Mackenzie as an energy markets analyst for the Middle East. 

Mr. Zimmermann holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Munich and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Denver. He is also a CFA charterholder.
