Former Minister of Finance, People’s Republic of China; Standing Committee Member and Chairman of the Committee of Foreign Affairs of the 13th CPPCC National Committee
Jiwei Lou is the former Minister of Finance of the People’s Republic of China, a role he held from March 2013 to November 2016. Subsequently, until April 2019, he served as Chairman of the National Council for Social Security Fund. He is now a Standing Committee member of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, and Chairman of the Committee of Foreign Affairs of the CPPCC.
From 1988 to March 2013, he served in a number of roles, notably: Deputy Director-General of the Office for Economic Restructuring of the Shanghai Municipal Government, Director-General of the State Commission for Economic Restructuring, Vice Governor of Guizhou Province, Vice Minister and Deputy Party Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council, Head of the Preparatory Group for China Investment Corporation, and Chairman, Party Secretary and CEO of China Investment Corporation.
Mr. Lou graduated from the Department of Quantitative and Technical Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) with a Master’s degree in Economics.
