Managing Director and Founder, Academus Partners
Chris DeMarino is the Managing Director and Founder of Academus Partners, an advisory firm that works with investor groups and schools to deliver premium branded education offerings in Asia.
From 2004 to 2014, he worked for Dulwich College International (DCI) in various executive roles, including Business Development Director. DCI was one of the first branded international K12 schools to open in Asia and it now has 10 schools across the region. Mr. DeMarino project managed the opening of Dulwich Seoul, which has won several awards as the best international school in South Korea. After DCI, he has worked in various advisory capacities including on the acquisition of the MacDuffie School, the first purchase of an American independent school by a Chinese private equity firm.
Before focusing on the education sector, Mr. DeMarino was an investment banker at Prudential Financial, where he focused on Asia-based transactions and raised over $300 million in private placement and public offerings. He started his career in Shanghai in the mid 1990s as a journalist for Dow Jones and the Wall Street Journal, covering business news and capital markets. Mr. DeMarino holds an MBA from Columbia University and received his BA from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
