Chairman, CLSA Ltd., a CITIC Securities company
Zhenyi Tang is the Chairman of CLSA, a subsidiary of CITIC Securities. He was appointed to this role in January 2017 and is responsible for overseeing the firm’s capital market businesses spanning more than 10 countries around the world. Mr. Tang is also a member of the Party Committee and Executive Committee of CITIC Securities. He is based in Hong Kong.
Before this, Mr. Tang was the Deputy Director-General and subsequently Director-General of the Office of Board of Directors of CITIC Corporation Limited, a role he held from December 2011 onwards. He also served concurrently as the Joint Company Secretary of CITIC Limited (HKG 0267), facilitating the overall listing of CITIC Group in Hong Kong as well as a series of significant underlying capital markets projects. In addition, he served as Executive Assistant (Deputy Director-General level) to the Vice Minister at the Ministry of Finance (MOF) of China from 2006 to 2011, and as Advisor to the Executive Director for China at the World Bank Group from 2001 to 2005. Prior to that he worked in the World Bank Department and International Department of the MOF from 1995 to 2001, where he was responsible for handling China’s cooperation with global financial institutions and sovereign agencies, including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, UNDP, and China’s economic and financial affairs in international cooperation forums such as the G20, APEC and ASEAN+3 (China, Japan and Korea).
Mr. Tang graduated from the University of Maryland, USA with an MBA degree in Finance, and from the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, China with a BA degree in International Economic Cooperation. Mr. Tang currently serves as Co-Chairman of the International Committee, the Asset Management Association of China. He is also a member of the Capital Markets Advisory Committee of the International Accounting Standards Board, Standing Committee Member of China’s Central Government Youth Federation, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Jiangsu Community Organizations, and a board member of Beijing Zhonghe Guoan Football Club.
