Bing Xu is Co-Founder, Head of Strategic Investment and Secretary for the Board of Directors at SenseTime. He takes the lead in SenseTime’s financing activities and strategic investments, enabling the company to become the most valuable AI technology startup in the world with a total financing amount surpassing USD$2 billion. Under his leadership, the SenseTime AI Industry Fund was set up in order to construct an AI industry ecosystem that encompasses SenseTime by pursuing venture capital investments, carrying out mergers and acquisitions, and establishing joint ventures. Investment partners include ARM China, Moviebook, China Medical Equipment CO., Ltd, SNOW and Terminus.
Regarding SenseTime’s business expansion, Mr. Xu has driven its strategic partnerships with Softbank, Qualcomm, Alibaba, Shimao Group and several large-scale state-owned enterprises, accelerating their business transformations and industrial adoption of AI. In 2017, Mr. Xu was named as one of the “35 Innovators Under 35” by MIT Technology Review.
Mr. Xu is a Ph.D. Candidate in Industrial and Information Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His current research team was one of the first teams in Asia to have gained a significant traction within deep learning. He holds Bachelor’s degrees in Industrial and Information Engineering and in Mathematical Sciences from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
