They call it Hallyu, the Korean wave, and at the heart of Hallyu is the Korean pop music known as K-pop. Exporting Korea’s blossoming pop culture has been the mission of the country’s entertainment giant SM Entertainment since 2000. Nikki Semin Han, CEO of the company, will explain how Hallyu has undergone three growth phases and why the company’s ‘Cultural Technology’, which involves systematic casting, training, producing and artist management, indicates a bright future for K-pop in the years to come.
