Kishore Mahbubani

Kishore Mahbubani is a Distinguished Fellow at the National University of Singapore's Asia Research Institute.

Mr. Mahbubani spent 33 years as a diplomat in Singapore, including two stints as Singapore's Ambassador to the UN from 1984 to 1989 and 1998 to 2004. He also held the position of Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1994 to 1998 and was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Gold) by the Singaporean Government in 1998.

Mr. Mahbubani is also a renowned author and academic. He was appointed the Founding Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in August 2004 and has published nine books on international relations including Has China Won? and The Asian 21st Century, which were released on 3 March 2020 and January 2022, respectively.

Mr Mahbubani is a regular contributor to the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos and other global committees. He was the founding chairman of the nominating committee of the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize (2009 to 2019). In April 2019, he was the second Singaporean to be elected as an honorary international member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, which has honored distinguished thinkers, including several of America's Founding Fathers, since 1780.
