The bank lends money to people or companies that need money for a large purchase. This is called a lending operation. Before the bank lends money, it does a credit investigation. That is how the bank checks whether the person who wants to borrow money can also pay it back. The bank checks the person's name, place of residence, age, and profession, for example. It also looks at whether the person has already borrowed money from other banks.

An important task of the bank is to ensure that anyone who has an account can also withdraw cash at the ATM and pay by card in shops. All of a bank's clients must also be able to transfer the money from their account to another account, for example to pay bills. Today, you can do that using Online & Mobile Banking, for example. It is called a payment transaction.
