Credit Suisse Appoints Michael Marr as Head of Private Banking Australia

Credit Suisse today announced the appointment of Michael Marr as Head of Private Banking Australia, effective August 1. Mr. Marr will continue to be based in Sydney and will report to Alex Wade, Head of Developed and Emerging Asia for Private Banking, and John Knox, Chief Executive Officer for Australia. He takes over from Mr. Wade, who has run the business since January 2016.

Mr. Marr is currently the Market Leader in Credit Suisse Private Banking Australia, overseeing Relationship Management teams in Sydney and Melbourne. Mr. Marr first joined Credit Suisse Private Banking Australia in 2009 as a Senior Relationship Manager, before taking on the management role of a Team Leader in 2013 and Market Leader in 2017.

 Mr. Marr has 14 years’ experience in the Private Banking industry in Australia, having worked previously for the Macquarie Group. Prior to this he worked in Debt Capital Markets at the Royal Bank of Canada and Hambros Bank. He began his career in the military, serving seven years in the British Army in the Scots Guards regiment.

 Mr. Wade commented that Mr. Marr brings to the role a very strong operational and industry background, clear leadership skills and has developed many deep client relationships.

Australia is a key priority market in Credit Suisse's strategy of expanding the regional onshore Private Banking footprint in the world’s largest wealth markets."

Mr. Knox added: "Our private bank has grown considerably over the last three years by providing our clients with comprehensive financial solutions, excellent service and insightful investment advice. Underpinning that success has been our integrated platform comprising Private Banking, Investment Banking and Capital Markets, and Equities. Michael’s extensive experience, leadership and insights will be instrumental in continuing this growth in partnership with all our businesses."
