Corporate Citizenship

ovp-vietnam-reading-165x90

At Credit Suisse, we strive to incorporate our approach to corporate responsibility into every aspect of our work. Our approach is founded on a broad understanding of the concept of corporate citizenship, which encompasses the areas of banking, society and the environment, as well as our role as an employer and our dialogue with all our stakeholders.

Our philanthropy commitments demonstrate its awareness that companies are dependent on the existence of a stable environment both for themselves and their employees. We lend support to social, charitable and cultural projects and institutions - focusing primarily in the areas which it operates as a business.

Education is one of the primary focus areas among our philanthropic and volunteer initiatives. We believe that education is the most important investment in people - both in industrialized nations and in emerging and developing countries. Based on this belief, Credit Suisse lends its support to numerous education and training initiatives around the world.

In Hong Kong in 2012, 42% of staff gave of their time and skills to our charity partners through various volunteering opportunities. Credit Suisse has been involved in activities such as – “Bread Runs” organized by Feeding Hong Kong to collect and redistribute surplus bread to the city’s disadvantaged; staff volunteering visits to the Watchdog Early Learning and Development center, a charity that provides educational support to preschool children with learning and developmental delays; pro bono consulting workshops for the city’s charities in association with Asian Charity Services (ACS); and regular beach clean ups and tree planting events with our environmental partners Eco Vision Asia and Ark Eden. Our staff have also hosted secondary school students from the Junior Achievement charity on ”Job Shadow” days at our ICC offices. Fundraising initiatives led by staff raised over US$70,000 in 2012 for a number of local charities.
