Commitments in APAC

The key theme of the Asia Pacific philanthropic activities is supporting development opportunities for disadvantaged children and youth through education.

Corporate Citizenship APAC drives Credit Suisse's social commitment and volunteerism in our 12 regional centers. In addition to our core banking activities, we are committed to being a reliable partner to charities and social organizations in our region, adopting a partnership model which aims to develop capacity through complementing financial support with pro bono engagements, employee volunteering and other in-kind donations.

Education is the primary focus for Corporate Citizenship's philanthropic initiatives in APAC. Our initiatives are focused primarily on providing better access to education and improving the quality and breadth of educational opportunities in each of the countries where we have a presence. Our funding supports a variety of projects including renovating/upgrading school infrastructure, teacher training, early childhood education as well as vocational and entrepreneurship education.

The Microfinance Capacity Building Initiative's projects in the region include Opportunity International's Education Finance initiative in India and the Philippines or financial inclusion focused venture capital investments by Accion's Venture Lab across the region. In addition to financial support, Credit Suisse provides employee expertise and know-how through its internal Microfinance Advocates Network, the Credit Suisse Virtual Volunteers and the Global Citizens Program.

Employee Engagement

Employees are encouraged to support our local communities by donating their time and skills to initiatives and projects run by our partner organizations. Active charity committees across countries help to coordinate these efforts at a local level.

Asia Pacific Philanthropy Committee

The Asia Pacific Philanthropy Committee was established in 1998 to oversee the distribution of philanthropic grants in the Asia Pacific region. The Committee meets twice a year to review grant submissions and focuses its giving on providing educational opportunities to children and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Partner Organizations

Corporate Citizenship APAC works closely with local partner organizations to deliver volunteering opportunities to employees. In addition to supporting educational initiatives, these partners serve their communities through a wide range of activities, including healthcare, home building/renovation, food collection/distribution, disaster relief, assistance to people with special needs (e.g., elderly, persons living with disabilities, victims of human trafficking and domestic violence), environmental/wildlife preservation, etc.
