Fresh Perspectives – Credit Suisse Supports Young Economists
In Summer 2016, the Credit Suisse Research Institute (CSRI) launched a global, virtual student academy to bring together bright-minded students and recent graduates, and jointly develop fresh perspectives around key trends that drive today's societies. One of the first activities was the Academy Challenge, where university students from around the world submitted their ideas on the future of monetary policy. The Challenge winner got a chance to discuss economic trends with some of the most prominent thought leaders and will get published by the CSRI in early 2017. Meet the winner, Stefani Kostadinova, who talks about the competition, her background and her passion for finance.
The Credit Suisse Research Institute (CSRI) Academy Challenge was launched in summer of 2016 to encourage students to explore and discuss some of the key global social and economic developments. In its first edition, CSRI asked students across the globe to develop ideas around the future of monetary policy. Several hundreds of papers from candidates from 115 universities and 51 countries were submitted in the competition. The best twenty authors were coached in developing their idea into a comprehensive piece by some of the world's leading academics, including professors from Harvard, Berkley and other leading universities. This year's winner, Stefani Kostadinova, an economics student at the American University in Bulgaria, was thrilled to participate in the competition: "I've always had a passion for economics and finance. The competition allowed me to explore a very fascinating topic. It was an amazing experience."
The objective of the CSRI Academy is to find, promote and develop talented, ambitious students from across the globe. "We look forward to working further with Stefani and developing her talent," says Lucia Waldner Head Credit Suisse Research Institute.
