Environmental Management System
An efficient use of natural resources and the reduction greenhouse gas emissions is one of Credit Suisse's objectives. The Bank focus on environmental management since energy consumption is the area in which its operations have by far the greatest impact on the environment.
Credit Suisse has been continuously developing its environmental management system since 1997, when it became the world's first bank to obtain ISO 14001 certification in this area. The environmental management system of Credit Suisse governs responsibilities and processes and prescribes Group-wide operational measures that the Bank to conserve resources, reduce environmental impacts and save costs.
In 2014, we once again passed the annual audit of our environmental management system, which was carried out by the external certification company SGS.
With the completion of the Uetlihof 2 office complex in 2012, Credit Suisse owns the largest building in Switzerland to have been constructed in accordance with the strict Minergie P environmental standard. Its consumption of heating energy alone is ten times lower than that of a comparable building of around 30 years ago.
