General Information

Our Ambassador

In November 2009, Credit Suisse entered into a long-term partnership with Roger Federer. This world sportsman with Swiss roots is an ideal ambassador for the Credit Suisse brand.

As well as their Swiss origins, top sportsman Roger Federer and Credit Suisse have a number of values in common: Wide international appeal, the desire to excel, and a distinct sense of quality. This is complemented by a high degree of responsibility toward society at large. Thus in December 2003, shortly after winning his first Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon, Roger Federer set up his own foundation: the Roger Federer Foundation. "I wanted to use the foundation to share some of my own good fortune with the children from the poorest regions of this world," says Federer in describing his motivations. Today, money from the Roger Federer Foundation is channeled into numerous projects in Africa and Switzerland that concentrate on helping disadvantaged children – the focus being on school education, sport, and games.

Giving Something Back to Society

Credit Suisse assumes responsibility toward society and the environment as well as toward its clients and employees. Its many and varied activities in the corporate citizenship field are documented by Credit Suisse in a special report and on its website. These activities also include an initiative to give 45,000 disadvantaged young people of school age a solid education. Against this backdrop, it was only logical for the bank to give part of its sponsorship contribution to the Roger Federer Foundation for specially earmarked projects. Brady Dougan, CEO of Credit Suisse, justifies this decision as follows: "Roger Federer is a role model, both on and off the tennis court. We share his desire to give something back to society, and that's why we're also supporting his charitable foundation."
