Splitting

What is splitting? Find the explanation here.

Splitting is used to determine the retirement pension of married, widowed, and divorced individuals. To do so, the incomes received by the two spouses during their marriage are divided, and each spouse is credited with half.

Example Amount of the AHV retirement pension: The AHV contributions paid during the marriage are halved and allocated to the accounts of the two spouses.
