Title: Vice President
Business Area: Private & Wealth Management Clients Switzerland
Joined Credit Suisse in 2000
I knew I wanted to work in banking when I finished my studies, but I wasn’t sure which area would be the best fit for me. When you’re 21, you’re not even sure about what kinds of opportunities are available. Fortunately, one of my best friends told me about the Credit Suisse Career Start Program.
The Career Start Program provided an easy introduction to the industry. It made for a smooth transition between my education and professional life. It really helped me discover all the career paths that Credit Suisse has to offer, and I was able to experience and work in many areas of the bank. At the end of my program, I accepted a position working with international clients on the Spanish desk in Geneva. That was very exciting because I got the chance to travel a lot.
Now I’m a Relationship Manager for the Swiss clients. I help my clients with all of their financial needs. I’m here to answer any questions they have regarding their investments, credit or mortgages, and to keep them informed about what’s happening in the marketplace. I moved into this position two years ago after I had my son.
I love that I do so many different things. I feel like I’m a general practitioner: I have to have a lot of global knowledge, but then I have specialists at my fingertips who I can call whenever I need help or guidance about specific products and services we can offer our clients. I work with a small team – there are seven of us – and I really enjoy that as well. It feels like a family.
I read the news before I get to work to see if there’s any developments that may impact my clients. I check my emails as soon as I arrive at the office and I try to answer any client requests. I look at my global portfolio and client liquidity to check for any unusual movement. Then I usually prepare for client meetings. Every day is different, and that makes it interesting. I’m never bored. I want to do my best every single day.
Credit Suisse has given me the chance to try different roles at different life phases. Each one was well suited for my career needs at that time. When I was younger, the position on the Spanish desk allowed me to explore a new part of the company and world. When I had a family, I was able to reduce my hours to work four days per week so that I could spend time with my son. Outside of work, I also play tennis, run and bake cakes.
