Credit Suisse hosts 7th China A-Shares Conference; launches China-focused thought leadership hub

The Credit Suisse 7th China A-Shares Conference takes place online from May 11-13 this year. This prestigious event provides a platform for investors to explore the emerging trends in the world’s second largest stock market. Over 60 leading A-share listed companies are participating this year, with a total market capitalization of over RMB 6.36 trillion (USD 897 billion), from 19 sectors including technology, healthcare, consumer discretionary, industrials and autos.

The Credit Suisse China A-Shares Conference includes a series of China Expert Perspective webinars, which will offer insights into the major trends and the broad economic landscape and growth prospects in China amid the coronavirus pandemic. The speaker line-up features leading external experts – notably prominent political analyst Cheng Li, who will discuss the future of China-US relations, and influential economist Yongding Yu, who will examine the prospects for China’s economic growth – as well as Credit Suisse’s own thought leaders.

Neil Hosie, Head of Equities for Asia Pacific at Credit Suisse, commented: “We are committed to staying connected with our clients, despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, and continue to create opportunities to exchange ideas and present high quality content to navigate the changing market conditions. The Credit Suisse China A-Shares Conference is dedicated to creating constructive dialogue and sharing valuable insights around the major advancements in China’s domestic stock markets, and helping investors and corporates capture key opportunities.”

Despite the pandemic, China remains a popular listing venue, with the Shanghai and Shenzhen Exchanges raising more than USD 11bn in the first quarter of this year.

“With China forging ahead with the liberalization of its capital markets, and amid the growing inclusion of a much larger number of Chinese companies in widely used global equity indices, the China A-share market is becoming increasingly important and relevant for domestic and international investors. As a leading broker in Asia Pacific, Credit Suisse plays an important role in bridging onshore China capital to the global markets and foreign capital to onshore China,” Mr. Hosie added.

Launching the Credit Suisse China Content Hub

The Credit Suisse China A-Shares Conference comes at a key point not only in the development of China’s domestic capital markets, but also in Credit Suisse’s own expansion in China. Last month, the bank received approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) to become a majority shareholder in its securities joint venture, Credit Suisse Founder Securities Limited (CSFS), which will enable the bank to strengthen its presence and capabilities in onshore China as well as to expand its leading position in Greater China and the Asia Pacific region.

To further support its China onshore activities, Credit Suisse has launched the Credit Suisse China Content Hub 瑞信智汇中国, which provides convenient access through a single platform to thought leadership insights into the emerging themes in China and beyond. Offering a comprehensive suite of Credit Suisse in-house research views, unique market insights and fresh investment ideas, the China Content Hub combines the knowledge of Credit Suisse’s leading Research analysts, investment strategists, China Quantitative Insight (CQi) and HOLT teams and global experts.

Commenting on the launch of the new platform, Zhenyi Tang, CEO of China at Credit Suisse, said: “Credit Suisse is committed to bringing top-tier differentiated thought-leadership insights to our clients in China, and to providing our global clients with much needed connectivity to the China market. We hope that this one-stop source of rich China-focused content from our analysts, strategists and experts globally will help clients to better understand and navigate key trends and developments in the evolving China market, amid the coronavirus pandemic and beyond.”
