We offer a range of programs for students and graduates. Here are some of the most common questions we receive regarding who is eligible and the details of our application process.

Where can I learn about internship programs for undergraduates?

You can learn about our programs by attending recruitment fairs or events, participating in a Virtual Recruiting webinar, inquiring with your campus career office or visiting our Programs pages and Events calendar.

Does Credit Suisse offer internships for MBA students and others with an advanced degree?

Yes. Our Associate internship programs are geared toward MBAs and other graduates. You can read more about these in our Programs pages.

Do I need to be a Business or Economics major to apply?

No. Many of our programs accept applicants from all disciplines and degree majors, though some programs are geared toward undergraduates and some are geared toward graduate students.

What's the difference between an Analyst and Associate?

Our Analyst programs are available to penultimate year students, while Associate programs are designed to give MBA and JD students a comparable experience to that of a first-year Associate. Note that these terms only apply to programs outside of Switzerland.

How long are internships?

Our internship programs vary in length, but a summer internship typically lasts three months. In Switzerland, our internship programs last 4-6 months. Outside of Switzerland, we offer off-cycle programs that can last 3-6 months, depending on the region and business line.

When am I expected to start if I am offered an internship?

Start dates vary by region. In most regions, your start date will align with university term dates, and generally, the main internship time is over the summer months.

In Switzerland, summer Interns start on July 1, whereas other programs (Career Start, regular internship) can begin at any time of the year.

Do you offer internships at other times?

In some regions we offer off-cycle Internship Programs that are available at different points throughout the year.

When will Credit Suisse visit my campus?

You can find out about campus visits from your campus career office or by checking our Events calendar. There are also several other targeted events that may be held at a location near your school throughout the year. For those campuses we do not visit, we encourage you to access our Virtual Rrecruiting platform in selected countries. We accept applications from all universities.

Can I apply to more than one business area?

Yes. You may apply to up to two programs in different regions and lines of business. When you apply, you'll be asked to indicate your areas of interest.

How important is my work experience?

You do not need relevant work experience to be considered for Analyst roles. MBA students applying to Associate roles typically need a minimum of three years of work experience, but it is not required that your work experience be in financial services or a related field.

What type of training will I receive during the internship?

Most programs offer a mix of classroom-style and on-the-job training. Program details vary by business and region but typically include technical and industry training, as well as opportunities to learn general business skills, such as presentation techniques and communication.

Does Credit Suisse offer scholarships?

I am still in high school. Are there opportunities for me?

In Switzerland, Apprenticeships and the Junior Banking Program are an option for high-school students. Local language proficiency (German, French or Italian) is required. Read more about our Programs available for Switzerland Apprentices (DE) or High School Students (DE)

Who should apply for a Full-Time Program?

Because the majority of our full-time hires are selected from our internship programs we advise candidates to apply for an internship as a path to full-time employment at Credit Suisse. In regions outside of Switzerland, we do offer a select number of full-time roles for students who have not participated in our internship programs. We encourage you to check our website in August and September for information on these positions.

In Switzerland, our Career Start programs are open to all students with completed Bachelor's or Master's studies. Doing an internship is a perfect way to prepare for a Career Start program, but you can also apply for our Career Start program without having first completed an internship at Credit Suisse.

What are the academic requirements?

Our Full-Time Analyst programs or Career Start programs in Switzerland require a Bachelor's or Master's degree or the equivalent. Our Full-Time Associate programs require an MBA, JD or equivalent from a top business or law school, and several years of work experience. Candidates for the Quantitative programs should have or be working towards a Ph.D., or a double Master's in a quantitative field.

I don't have an MBA. Am I still eligible?

Outside of Switzerland, we offer Associate positions in a wide variety of business for MBA students. In addition, we offer positions in finance for candidates with advanced degrees in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, Economics, Actuarial Science and Quantitative Finance.

An MBA is not required to participate in the Career Start programs in Switzerland.

Do you accept applications from people who graduated one to three years ago?

We only hire new graduates for our Students and Graduates Programs. If you have been out of school for one to three years, you should look for opportunities geared toward Experienced Professionals.

What kind of career development does Credit Suisse offer?

All new hires receive initial classroom-style and on-the-job training specific to their line of business. Additionally, our training curriculum offers more than 8,000 programs for ongoing education throughout the course of your career with us. Finally, we offer mentorship programs and employee networks to provide ongoing guidance and support.

Are there opportunities to work in other areas of the company or abroad?

We encourage cross-business and regional mobility to help our employees' ongoing development and keep them engaged and excited about their work at the firm.

Credit Suisse has a robust internal mobility program, which employees are eligible for after one year of employment. In Switzerland, you can make an internal move one year after completing the Career Start program.

Which countries and regions offer Student and Graduate Programs?

We offer internships, full-time and graduate programs in every region, with most programs in our core offices: Geneva, Hong Kong, London, Melbourne, Mumbai, New York, Paris, Pune, Raleigh, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Wroclaw and Zurich. Visit our Locations page for more information.

How does the recruitment process work?

Outside of Switzerland, the recruitment cycle typically kicks off with campus visits, events or Virtual Recruiting webinars, beginning in August or September.

In Switzerland, we recruit all year long through direct applications, campus visits and events. Campus events take place from March – May in spring and from September – November in fall.

How do I apply?

After you have determined your interest or programs, you will need to apply using our online application system. Qualified applicants are contacted via email and invited to an initial interview. You may be asked to participate in up to three rounds of interviews.

What is the typical length of time for the process?

Dependent on country Campus Recruitment events typically begin in August, September or October. Internship interviews begin in October, and offers are confirmed by April. Interviews for available full-time roles take place from October through December, with offers confirmed by April.

In Switzerland, we interview for roles all year round. The length of time for the process depends on the number of applications that we receive and the screening process.

Are candidates who require a work permit/ visa considered?

Yes. If you fall in this category, contact the Credit Suisse recruitment office in your region of interest for details.

If Credit Suisse does not visit my campus, will my application still be considered?

In some regions, we have a "virtual" recruiting process for both Analyst and Associate internship candidates from schools we do not physically visit. Students can attend Virtual Recruiting webinars to learn more about the firm and our internship programs. Interested students should submit an application on our website. Select applicants will be invited to participate in first-round interviews via online video chat, and successful candidates will be integrated into the final-round interview process.

In Switzerland, we accept applications from all universities, even if Credit Suisse does not host campus events on at a specific university.

Will I need to take any tests?

For APAC, EMEA and Switzerland positions, you will be asked to complete online numerical and verbal reasoning tests immediately after submitting your online applications, and you should be prepared to do so. Each test will take 20 minutes for you to complete.

How can I be part of the recruiting process if I am studying abroad?

We recommend that you start the process before embarking on your overseas studies. Stay in touch with recruiters, alumni and your university's career services office to be apprised of critical events, deadlines and interview opportunities. If you are selected for an interview while you are studying abroad, we can make accommodations to interview you while you are overseas.

Do you offer deferred entry for any of your programs?

Deferred entry is granted only under extreme circumstances, and such requests are addressed on a case by case basis with your recruiter and the line of business.

When will I know if I've been selected for an interview?

If you meet the initial requirements after applying online, we will contact you via email or through your campus career office to set up an interview.

How can l prepare for the interview?

Know the requirements of the position, which you may obtain from a recruiter. It's a good idea to read the financial press to be current on the industry and market trends. Learn about the bank by reviewing the information on our website, reaching out to your networking connections and through your own research.

How many rounds of interviews should I expect?

You may expect two to three rounds of interviews with one to two mid-level and/or senior bankers at each round. Some positions may require additional rounds.

Will my interview expenses, such as travel, be reimbursed?

Typically, yes, but we advise inquiring about the guidelines with your local recruiter to determine allowable expenses prior to your travel.

When will I hear if I have an offer?

The offer is usually communicated within a short time after final interviews are completed. You will be contacted by a representative of Credit Suisse should we plan to extend you an offer.
