Zurich, October 13, 2020 – Credit Suisse is pleased to announce the appointment of Christian Meissner as Co-Head of International Wealth Management Investment Banking Advisory (IWM IBA) and Vice Chairman of Investment Banking, as of October 26, 2020.

Together with Babak Dastmaltschi, Chairman of Strategic Clients IWM and Co-Head of IWM IBA, Mr Meissner will further develop and execute IWM’s strategy for entrepreneurial high net worth clients, providing them greater support and coverage with select investment banking opportunities.

With Mr Meissner acting as Vice Chairman of Investment Banking, Credit Suisse will leverage his long-standing corporate and private equity relationships with clients globally. His appointment represents an important next step in the Investment Bank’s investment in senior bankers to further build the Capital Markets & Advisory business. Christian will work closely with David Miller globally and Jens Welter in EMEA, as well as Yves-Alain Sommerhalder, Head of Global Trading Solutions and the International Financing Group.

With 30 years of experience in investment banking, Mr Meissner has a deep understanding of the industry and has built an extensive network in Europe. He has held various senior positions at leading investment banks, most recently serving as Head of Global Corporate & Investment Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Prior to that, he was at Lehman Brothers from 2004-2008, where he served as Co-Head of EMEA Investment Banking and subsequently was Co-Chief Executive Officer EMEA. Before this, Christian was at Goldman Sachs, where he was Head of European ECM and became a Partner in 2002. Based in Zurich, Mr Meissner will become a member of the IWM Management Committee and report to Philipp Wehle, CEO of International Wealth Management, and to Brian Chin, CEO of the Investment Bank.

Philipp Wehle, CEO of International Wealth Management, said: “We aim to further strengthen the collaboration between IWM and the Investment Bank across M&A and capital markets. As such, we will further enhance the support and coverage of our entrepreneurial clients by investing in IWM’s investment banking origination and mid-market execution capabilities. Christian’s broad investment banking experience, expertise and network will complement Babak’s proven success in serving UHNWI clients. Under their joint leadership, we are confident that IWM IBA will achieve its growth ambitions.”

Brian Chin, CEO of the Investment Bank, stated: “We are delighted to welcome such a deeply experienced and respected leader as Christian and count on his acumen and experience to continue to build out our investment banking franchise internationally.”
