Dr. Oliver Adler has been with Credit Suisse since December 2009. He and his team of researchers are responsible for the analysis and forecasts of key trends in the Swiss economy in a global context. The research focuses on both macroeconomic analysis as well as on developments affecting various industry and services sectors. This information is used, on the one hand, as input for the Credit Suisse Investment Committee and to support the advisory process for investment clients, but is also put at the disposal of corporate clients and the bank's management. Dr. Adler and his team author numerous publications that are highly regarded by customers and the media. Dr. Adler also supports the Chairman, CEO as well as CIO of Credit Suisse by providing assessments on global economic issues. He also represents Credit Suisse on the board of two research institutes of the University of St. Gallen.
Before joining Credit Suisse, Dr. Adler worked for UBS AG for almost exactly 20 years, five of which he served as the Head of Investment Strategy for the private banking portfolio management department (Wealth Management Investment Solutions) in Zurich. Prior to this he held various research positions at UBS, including a position with the bank in New York.
From 2004 to 2008, Dr. Adler held a teaching appointment in International Economics at AZEK, the Swiss Training Center for Investment Professionals. From 1984 to 1988, he was a Teaching Assistant in Macroeconomics at Columbia University in New York, where he received his doctorate in Economics in 1989. In 1984 and 1985 he served as a consultant with the World Bank in Washington, D.C. Oliver Adler obtained his Bachelor's degree at the London School of Economics in 1977 (B.Sc. Econ). His first job in the banking sector was as a Country Economist with the former Schweizerischer Bankverein (SBC) in Basel.
