Sian Proctor
Geoscientist; explorer; space artist; astronaut

Sian Proctor is a geoscientist, explorer, space artist and astronaut. She is the mission pilot and the first black civilian astronaut for Inspiration4, the world’s first all-civilian orbital mission to space. Dr. Proctor is also one of The Explorer’s Club 50: Fifty People Changing the World, a multidisciplinary, professional society dedicated to the advancement of field research, scientific exploration and resource conservation.
Dr. Proctor’s motto, Space2inspire, encourages individuals to use their unique, one-of-a-kind strengths, and passion to inspire those within their reach and beyond. She is also a space artist and is learning to navigate the art world through the spirit of entrepreneurship. An advocate for justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, she believes that every individual must actively strive for a J.E.D.I. space: a just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive space along with the advancement of human spaceflight.
Dr. Proctor has a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Geology and a Ph.D. degree in Curriculum and Instructions (Science Education) from Arizona State University.
