Ryan Stokes

Ryan Stokes is CEO of Australian Capital Equity and Managing Director (MD) and CEO of Seven Group Holdings (SGH). Mr Stokes was COO of SGH from 2012 and was appointed MD and CEO in 2016.

SGH is a leading Australian diversified operating and investment group with market-leading businesses and investments in industrial services, energy, and media.

In industrial services, WesTrac is the sole authorized Caterpillar dealer in Western Australia and New South Wales and is one of Caterpillar's top dealers globally. SGH owns Coates, Australia’s largest equipment hire business. SGH also has a 69.6% shareholding in Boral, a leading construction materials group.

In energy, SGH has a 30% shareholding in Beach Energy and has interests in energy assets in Australia. In media, SGH has a 38.9% shareholding in Seven West Media, one of Australia’s largest media companies, including the Seven Network, 7plus and The West Australian.

Mr Stokes is Chair of WesTrac, Coates, Boral, and a Non-executive Director of Seven West Media.

Mr Stokes has been Chairman of the National Gallery of Australia since July 2018. He was recently Chairman of the National Library of Australia from 2012 to 2018. Mr Stokes was the inaugural Chairman of Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, known as Headspace, from 2006 to 2010. He was also a Director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute from 2011 to 2015.

He was appointed an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia in 2020.

Mr Stokes holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Curtin University.
