Professor for Autonomous Mobile Robots, ETH Zurich; Founding Co-Director, Wyss Zurich
Roland Siegwart is Professor of Autonomous Systems at ETH Zurich and Founding Co-Director of the technology transfer center at Wyss Zurich. He is also a board member of multiple high-tech companies.
Prof Siegwart spent ten years as professor at EPFL Lausanne from 1996 to 2006, held visiting positions at Stanford University and NASA Ames Research Center and was Vice President of ETH Zurich from 2010 to 2014.
He is an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Fellow and recipient of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Pioneer Award and IEEE RAS Inaba Technical Award. He is among the most cited scientists in robotics worldwide, co-founder of more than half a dozen spin-off companies and a strong promoter of innovation and entrepreneurship in Switzerland.
Prof Siegwart has interests in the design, control and navigation of flying, as well as wheeled and walking robots operating in complex and highly dynamical environments.
He received his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and his PhD degree in Mechatronics from ETH Zurich.
