Rob Kaplan

Rob Kaplan is Founder and CEO of Circulate Capital, a Singapore-based impact investment management firm dedicated to financing companies, projects, and infrastructure that prevent the flow of plastic waste to the world’s oceans and advance the circular economy in South and Southeast Asia.

Circulate Capital manages two active funds – Circulate Capital Ocean Fund (CCOF) and Circulate Capital Disrupt (CCD). In December 2019, the USD112 million CCOF was established in partnership with leading corporations including PepsiCo, Dow, Danone, Chanel, Unilever, Procter & Gamble, The Coca-Cola Company, Chevron Phillips Chemical and Mondelez International. CCOF aims to prevent the flow of plastic waste into the ocean through financing Asia’s waste ecosystem and incentivizing private capital investment in the region’s recycling value chain. Launched in June 2021, CCD is a companion venture to CCOF and a USD25 million private equity fund that invests in disruptive technologies at the nexus of climate tech and plastic circularity.

Prior to Circulate Capital, Mr. Kaplan was Co-Founder and Senior Advisor at Closed Loop Partners, an innovative platform for impact investing, sustainability, and the North America circular economy. He oversaw the platform’s strategy and new business model development, as well as its day-to-day operations.

Mr. Kaplan also served as Director of Sustainability for Walmart Stores where he was responsible for packaging, customer engagement and integration within the Consumables business. He led Walmart’s cross-functional efforts to eliminate 20 million metric tons of greenhouse gas from the supply chain.

Before joining Walmart, Mr. Kaplan led corporate responsibility and brand strategy for Brown-Forman Corporation, which produces and markets spirit brands including Jack Daniel’s. He developed marketing strategies to engage consumers, improve social and environmental performance and advance business objectives.

He received his Master of Business Administration degree from the Haas School of Business, University of California Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Communication from the George Washington University.
