Founder and CEO, M-DAQ
Richard Koh is Founder and CEO of M-DAQ, a Singapore home-grown capital markets financial technology start-up that was established in January 2010 and is supported by the Economic Development Board (EDB), Enterprise Singapore (ESG) and Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
In September 2015, M-DAQ went live with a game-changer solution assisting global e-commerce platforms to offer a guaranteed foreign exchange (FX) rate at a fraction of the existing price, clocking S$30 billion in transactions to date. This solution also won the open category prize at the inaugural MAS Fintech awards in 2016. M-DAQ has also won several awards, including the top prize at the inaugural SG: Digital Techblazers awards organized by the Infocomm and Media Development Authority and SGTech in 2018, the coveted Best Technology Company To Work For biennial award by Singapore Computer Society (SCS) in 2019, and the inaugural Special 25th Anniversary Digital Economy Award at the Enterprise 50 Awards in 2019.
Mr. Koh has over 35 years of industry experience in Infocomm (ICT), Treasury (FX) and e-commerce and holds four technical patents. He was named Entrepreneur of the Year by SCS in 2018, and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year – Financial Technology, in 2020. He currently serves in Nanyang Technological University’s Nanyang Business School Advisory Board, Singapore Management University’s Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship Innovation Grant Evaluation Panel, National University of Singapore’s Business School Accounting Advisory Board, the Singapore Business Federation Jobs & Skills Advisory Committee and the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry Council. Mr. Koh has been a Fellow Chartered Accountant since 2010.
Mr. Koh holds an Executive Master of Business Administration degree in International Business (First in Class/Valedictorian) from Aalto University and a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honors) degree with a specialization in Banking and Finance from Nanyang Technological University.
