Justin Yifu Lin
Honorary Dean, National School of Development, Peking University; Councilor of the State Council and member of the Standing Committee, Chinese People’s Political Consultation Conference

Justin Yifu Lin is Dean of the Institute of New Structural Economics, Dean of Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development and Professor and Honorary Dean of National School of Development at Peking University. He was Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank from 2008 to 2012. Prior to this, Prof. Lin served for 15 years as Founding Director and Professor of the China Center for Economic Research (CCER) at Peking University.
He is Councilor of the State Council and a member of the Standing Committee, Chinese People’s Political Consultation Conference. He is the author of more than 20 books including Beating the Odds: Jump-Starting Developing Countries (2017), Going Beyond Aid: Development Cooperation for Structural Transformation (2017), Against the Consensus: Reflections on the Great Recession (2013), The Quest for Prosperity: How Developing Economies Can Take Off (2012), New Structural Economics: A Framework for Rethinking Development and Policy (2012) and Demystifying the Chinese Economy (2011).
Prof. Lin is also a Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy and a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World.
He received his Ph.D. degree in Economics from the University of Chicago.
