Shobana Kamineni

Shobana Kamineni is Executive Vice Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited. She steers the organization's emergence as a proponent of integrated digital-first healthcare services in India through Apollo 24/7. She heads Apollo Pharmacy – India's largest pharmacy chain with a pan-India network of over 4,000 stores and 30,000 employees. She was Founder and Chairperson of Apollo Munich Health Insurance, India's best specialized health insurance company and now merged with HDFC ERGO, for nine years. She is Vice-Chairperson of KEI Group, a diversified logistics, leisure & infrastructure business, that she co-founded.

As lead Director in Apollo’s research and innovation activities, Ms. Kamineni championed the creation and incubation of a Biobank – a catalogued library of ethically consented, anonymised bio-samples. The Biobank was recognized as one of the top 10 ideas of the decade in Life Sciences by Time Magazine.

Ms. Kamineni was the first-ever woman to be President of Confederation of Indian Industry since its inception in 1895. Dedicated to ensuring that more women enter the workforce, she launched the Power of Parity Initiative.

Ms. Kamineni is Board and Audit committee member in Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND), a Geneva-based, international non-profit organization that enables the development and delivery of much-needed diagnostic tests for poverty-related diseases.

Ms. Kamineni is Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Health and Healthcare Industry Governors Community and Co-Chair of the WEF’s Closing the Skills Gap Taskforce in India. In 2018, she was appointed member of the National Foundation for Corporate Governance (NGFC) Trust.

Ms. Kamineni has been a recipient of prestigious national awards for Entrepreneurship and Leadership, including WEF’s ‘Businesswoman of the Decade’ award.

She was conferred an Honorary Doctorate degree of Science by Bryant University, in recognition of her life's work in healthcare and pharmaceuticals and her leadership role in business expansion in India.
