Managing Director, Khazanah Nasional Berhad
Shahril Ridza Ridzuan is Managing Director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad. Khazanah is the sovereign wealth fund of the Government of Malaysia entrusted with growing the nation’s long-term wealth via distinct commercial and strategic objectives. With assets under management of approximately US$33 billion as at 31 December 2019, Khazanah has investments in various sectors such as aviation, energy, financial, healthcare, infrastructure, leisure & tourism, real assets, technology, and telecommunications among others.
Datuk Shahril was formerly CEO of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) of Malaysia, the nation’s largest retirement fund, and prior to that, served as Deputy CEO (Investments). Prior to joining EPF, he was Managing Director of Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad, where he was responsible for developing Kuala Lumpur Sentral into one of the main commercial centres in Malaysia. He previously served at Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional, where he was involved in corporate recovery and credit restructuring following the 1997 Asian financial crisis. He is currently Chairman of M+S Private Limited and Iskandar Investment Berhad and is a non-executive board member of Malaysia Aviation Group Berhad and Malaysia Airlines Berhad.
Datuk Shahril holds a Master of Arts degree from Cambridge University and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Law from Oxford University. He has been called to the Malaysian Bar and the Bar of England and Wales.
