COO and Deputy CEO, Planet Smart City
Daniele Russolillo is COO & Deputy CEO of Planet Smart City (Planet). He has served in the roles since September 2018. He first joined as Chief Business Development Officer of Planet’s Competence Centre in September 2017, where he was part of the multidisciplinary team that curates smart technologies and advises on the company’s application on projects.
In his role, Mr. Russolillo is responsible for the development of smart, affordable housing projects globally with a specific focus on Middle East and Asia, working with Planet’s Competence Centre to effectively implement technological, social, and environmental solutions to add value to the lives of Planet’s residents.
Since Planet’s market entry into the Indian subcontinent in 2020, Mr. Russolillo has played an important role in forging fruitful partnerships to support Planet’s growth into the Indian market and across Asia. One of the first results of this was the construction of new smart affordable neighborhoods within the Life Republic development in Pune, Maharashtra, in partnership with Kolte-Patil Developers Limited.
Prior to joining Planet, Mr. Russolillo had more than 16 years of experience in managing multidisciplinary projects in Europe, Africa, and Asia for private and public organizations. He is an expert in energy and environmental services within smart urban environments as well as in energy, water, waste, transportation regulatory frameworks. Mr. Russolillo is also an advisory board member for several technology and social impact organizations. Since 2017, Mr. Russolillo has also been Senior Associate at the Institute for European Energy and Climate Policy Foundation – a non-profit research organization of interdisciplinary experts on climate change, energy efficiency, and renewable energy policy from across Europe.
Mr. Russolillo has contributed to more than 17 publications, including four books. Most recently, in 2017, he co-edited “The Political Economy of Local Regulation – Theoretical Frameworks and International Case Studies”.
