The focus of the exhibit by Sam Gilliam is on his creative period from 1967 to 1973. You will be able to view these unique works by a painter who is influential but (as yet) unknown in Europe. In the United States, however, Sam Gilliam is one of the most important representatives of abstract art. "The Music of Color" is the first major solo exhibition by the artist at a European museum, giving you a one-of-a-kind opportunity to visit this exhibit at the Kunstmuseum Basel.

Our commitment to the arts

As Picasso put it, art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. Art helps us focus on the essential. It is used for many purposes, and is capable of even more: It provokes thought, for example, and – not least – promotes social dialogue. That's why Credit Suisse supports selected institutions at home and abroad. It has long-term partnerships, for example, with the Kunsthaus Zürich, the Kunstmuseum Basel, the Kunstmuseum Bern, the Fondation de l'Hermitage, and the MASI Lugano. On a global scale, the bank sponsors institutions such as the National Gallery in London.
