Omega European Masters – Credit Suisse Silver Pro-Am 2017

The Credit Suisse Silver Pro-Am traditionally marks the start of the week-long golf tournament in Crans-Montana. Our host Christophe Bonjour, Head of Region Valais, answered five questions for us.

Credit Suisse has been supporting the Masters for over 30 years, showing its long-term commitment as a sponsor. Why is there such loyalty to this event?

Because, as a globally active bank, our regional roots are very important. And because for generations we have had excellent business relationships with companies and private clients in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. We want to thank them, and no sporting event could do this better than this fantastic tournament in this amazing location.

This year, Credit Suisse has launched the new "Birdies for Good" prize. How did this come about?

We wanted to combine the pleasant with the practical. With the "Birdies for Good" campaign, we have found a way for disadvantaged people to benefit from the pros' performance. For every birdie scored at the eighth hole, a sizeable contribution will be made to a charitable organization.

Which charity has been selected this year?

This year, the money will go to the association "Hilfe für hirnverletzte Kinder" (Association for Children with Brain Injuries). The care and support of brain-damaged children is challenging in every respect. The association therefore offers these children and their families the professional support that they need. I very much hope that the pros will score as many birdies as possible at the eighth hole so that we can donate a generous sum.

What is your own personal highlight of the tournament week in Crans-Montana?

The unique natural scenery, the challenging course, the culinary delicacies of Valais... there are so many highlights to choose from.

And if you had to choose?

If I had to pick out just one highlight, then it would be the people I encounter. The shared experiences and personal interaction at the Pro-Am are unforgettable. It brings us together and promotes trust.
