Credit Suisse enhances Asia Pacific Equity Research offering with the appointments of Viktor Shvets and Timothy Ross

Credit Suisse today announced two senior appointments in its Asia Pacific Equity Research team, reflecting the Bank’s continued commitment to providing its clients with the very best insight and ideas.

Viktor Shvets joins Credit Suisse as a Managing Director and Head of Thematic Equity Research, Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. In this newly-created position, Mr. Shvets will assist Credit Suisse’s clients in navigating a market environment that is heavily influenced by thematic and macro trends, writing and co-ordinating research content that highlights the key investment themes and structural growth opportunities across Asia Pacific.

In Singapore, Timothy Ross joins Credit Suisse as a Managing Director and Head of Asia Pacific Transport Research, Asia Pacific. Mr. Ross’s appointment substantially enhances Credit Suisse’s research offering for this important sector in Asia Pacific.

Both Mr. Shvets and Mr. Ross will report to Ernest Fong, Head of Equity Research for non-Japan Asia.

Mr. Shvets was previously Head of Research and Chief Strategist for Samsung Securities in Hong Kong. He has over 25 years of experience in equity research across Australia, Asia Pacific, the US, Emerging Europe, Middle East and Africa. Before joining Samsung Securities, he was Co-head of Emerging Europe, Middle East and Africa Equity Research and an Equity Strategist for Lehman Brothers and later Nomura in London. He has also worked at Baring Securities and Deutsche Bank, achieving high rankings in surveys by Institutional Investor and other investor polls, principally as a Telecoms and Transport analyst in Asia Pacific.

Mr. Ross also joins from Samsung Securities, where he was Head of Asian Transport & Infrastructure Research. He ran UBS's regional Transport research team in Asia from 1998 to 2005, and was ranked #1 by Institutional Investor for four consecutive years and in the top three for the other three years. Mr. Ross was also the global airlines analyst at UBS. He joined the board of AirAsia Bhd in 2005 and then returned to UBS as an investment banker to run its regional Transport Infrastructure sector coverage team until 2011.
