Credit Suisse Underlines Commitment to UK by Hiring Additional Portfolio Managers for UK Equity Income

London,  August 16, 2007 Credit Suisse today announced the appointments of Graham Ashby, Michael Crawford and Marcus Chandler as portfolio managers for the company's UK and Global Equity Income team, bringing to 14 the number of equity portfolio managers the company has hired in recent months.

Kim Goodwin, Head of Equities for Asset Management at Credit Suisse said: "These appointments underline our commitment to the UK market and I am delighted that such high caliber, experienced investment managers such as Graham, Michael and Marcus are joining us.

"The new recruits join an already talented UK team and will be tasked with managing our strongly performing retail UK Equity Income products and developing a Global Equity Income offering for the retail market.

"Graham brings a strong track record of delivering superior investment performance to clients and represents an exciting new stage in the development of our Equity Income business."

Graham Ashby, a well-known equity income investor with a strong track record and over 19 years fund management experience, will join Credit Suisse as a Managing Director and Head of UK Retail Equities. He will be joining Credit Suisse from Sarasin and it is a shared goal, subject to obtaining the necessary approval, that he will continue to manage the specialist Sarasin UK Equity Income Fund under an external management agreement with Credit Suisse.

Phil True, Head of UK Institutional Equities, who has been overseeing the management of the whole Credit Suisse retail UK Income fund range will now focus more on the institutional side of the business - he hands over a set of retail funds that have been performing strongly.

Graham will join Phil True as co-head of UK Equities, with Graham responsible for retail products and Phil responsible for institutional products.

Graham Ashby said: "I am very pleased to be joining Credit Suisse at a time when there is strong forward momentum in the business and look forward to joining a growing and talented team. This represents a powerful opportunity to contribute to one of the world's premier investment firms, to grow and develop leading equity income products, and to continue to deliver strong performance."

Marcus Chandler will be joining Credit Suisse as a Vice President and portfolio manager from Sarasin where he was an analyst. He will report to Graham Ashby.

Michael Crawford will join Credit Suisse as a Director and portfolio manager reporting to Graham Ashby. He has over 23 years financial services experience, 13 of those in fund management, and joins from Bessemer Trust where he was Principal and Head of European and UK Equities. He has previously worked with Graham for over seven years and the two are particularly looking forward to working together again.
