Credit Suisse Study on Structures and Prospects in the Canton of Glarus
Glarus: Balance between Tradition and the Modern Age
Glarus, September 18, 2003 The location, the topography and the size of Canton Glarus represent natural limitations to its economic growth prospects. Changing structures and a decline in population are the consequences. Nevertheless, Glarus is an industrial location and a cross-regional employer, together with the regions of lower and central Glarus. The aim is to maintain this position, and to expand it in certain target areas by attracting specialty and niche industry branches with high value creation, as well as seeking stronger economic ties with the Zurich area. These are some of the conclusions reached by the new Credit Suisse regional study on the Canton of Glarus.
