Credit Suisse has been involved in eight of the ten largest LBO's in history. The Technology Group itself has advised on the three largest technology buyouts ever (see below), and in 2006 has advised on three of the four largest semiconductor M&A transactions ever.

Some notable transactions include:

  • Advised on the 3 largest technology LBO's of all time: Freescale Semiconductor for $17.6 billion (2006), SunGard Data Systems for $11.3 billion (2005) and NXP, formerly the semiconductor business of Royal Philips Electronics, for $10.6 billion (2006). The NXP transaction was subsequently named the IDD Technology Deal of the Year.
  • Google IPO in 2004 (the largest Internet IPO ever and the largest US IPO ever via auction), Follow-on in 2005 (the largest technology follow-on offering ever) and, in 2006, the acquisition of YouTube for $1.65 billion.
  • Advised Pixar in its $7.7 billion sale to The Walt Disney Company in 2006.
  • We were a joint bookrunner on the 3 most successful IPO's in the new alternative energy niche: SunPower ($159 million in 2005), Suntech ($455 million in 2005) and First Solar ($458 million in 2006).
  • We represented Sun Microsystems when KKR announced its $700 million investment in Sun in the form of a dual tranche convertible note in early 2007.
