Renewables
Credit Suisse recognizes the significant and growing role renewable and alternative technologies play in the global energy picture. The Renewable Practice was established to provide innovative advisory work and capital raising solutions to this unique market.
Since its inception, the Renewable Practice has led the most pioneering deals in the space. These deals have included the $380 million bond financing of FPL Energy American Wind, the first U.S. wind financing in the capital markets, for which we won a Project Finance International Deal of the Year; the $185 million B-loan financing of Hawkeye Renewables, the first U.S. ethanol financing in the capital markets, covering a sector that had traditionally been served by the bank market, for which we won a Project Finance Magazine Renewables Deal of the Year; and the $455 million IPO of Suntech Power, a deal that integrated financial, social and environmental objectives to become the first Chinese Solar company listed in the U.S., for which we won a Financial Times Sustainable Energy Finance Deal of the Year.
Credit Suisse offers the preeminent renewable energy platform. Since 2005, the Renewable Practice has been involved in over 50 transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $20 billion - over twice the volume of its closest competitor. The team possesses significant geographic reach across the Americas, Europe and Asia, and is fully globally coordinated. Credit Suisse also coordinates efforts across the entire bank in order to offer its clients a full range of innovative products and solutions. Some of the unique offerings provided by the Renewable Practice include: a Commodities group providing hedging solutions; a team specializing in Production Tax Credit ("PTC") monetization; a carbon credit trading group; and the MASDAR Cleantech Fund, a clean energy technology investment fund co-sponsored by the Government of Abu Dhabi, Consensus Business Group, Siemens and Credit Suisse.
