At Credit Suisse, we strive to incorporate our approach to corporate responsibility into every aspect of our work. Our approach is founded on a broad understanding of the concept of corporate citizenship, which encompasses the areas of banking, society and the environment, as well as our role as an employer and our dialogue with all our stakeholders.

Credit Suisse's philanthropy commitments demonstrate its awareness that companies are dependent on the existence of a stable environment, both for themselves and their employees. Credit Suisse thus lends its support to social, charitable and cultural projects and institutions - focusing primarily in the areas which it operates as a business.

Education is one of the primary focus areas among Credit Suisse’s philanthropic and volunteer initiatives. Credit Suisse believes that education is the most important investment in people - both in industrialized nations and in emerging and developing countries. Based on this belief, Credit Suisse lends its support to numerous education and training initiatives around the world.

In Hong Kong, some of Credit Suisse's recent projects have included involvement in: The Red Cross Red Hand Day with Renaissance College - to raise awareness of the growing number of child soldiers; providing meals at a homeless shelter by Credit Suisse volunteers at the “Home Of Love”, a charity run by Mother Theresa's Sisters of Charity; and involvement in the Clinton Global Initiative Asia, held in Hong Kong in December 2008. As part of this event, Credit Suisse, in partnership with the United Nations World Food Program, committed to provide a US$250,000 philanthropy grant to sustain the WFP’s “Food for Education” program in Indonesia.
