Step 5: How Can I Finance Early Retirement?
If taking early retirement is one of your personal goals, you can already start working on it now. Many factors in this respect are dependent on your current pension situation.
Legal Basis for Early Retirement
By law, it is possible to receive an AHV/AVS pension up to a maximum of two years prior to the legal retirement age (currently 65 years for men / 64 years for women). Consequently, the pension is reduced in line with mathematical principles for the entire period of entitlement. Conversely, the pension can be deferred for up to five years after the normal retirement age.

Early Retirement through the Pension Fund
The pension fund regulations can provide for retirement before the legal retirement age and lay down the details for this. Early retirement generally entails a reduction in pension benefits. Once you reach the age of 50 at the latest, contact your pension fund manager to find out about your options for early retirement. This means that you still have the opportunity to systematically close any pension gaps.
