Careers in Internal Audit
Who We Are
Internal Audit is an independent function, providing objective assurance and advice to management, adding value and improving the Bank’s operational environment. Internal Audit is predominantly concerned with the financial, operational, regulatory, legal and reputational risks to which the Bank is or may become exposed.
Responsibilities include assessing the control environment, IT systems and governance processes throughout the front and back offices, ultimately reporting to senior management pragmatic recommendations for their implementation.
Internal Audit is the perfect stepping stone to a successful career in investment banking. Your responsibilities will require a broad understanding of the activities and the products traded by the Bank, providing exposure to senior management in a wide range of areas. With this knowledge, and a large network of business relationships, you build a considerable profile in the Bank. Moreover, your experience need not be limited to the Europe, Middle East and Africa, with a range of assignments based overseas and the potential to second for a longer period to an office abroad.

Matthew Burton, Regional Chief Auditor
Thank you for taking the time to read this briefing. I would like to share my thoughts on why a career at Credit Suisse is so rewarding.
Credit Suisse is a global organisation that is constantly seeking opportunities to grow, and through its capital strength, disciplined risk taking, independence, and integrated business model, has proven to be successful in managing through the recent financial downturn.
Within Internal Audit, we are presented with many challenges including increasing product complexity and a constantly changing regulatory environment. This fast paced setting ensures a wealth of opportunities for motivated and talented individuals seeking to further their career. Moreover, recent high profile scandals in the banking world, many resulting from internal control weaknesses, have reinforced the importance of Internal Audit as an integral and highly valued function.
Senior management, industry regulators, and external auditors alike, place reliance on Internal Audit’s work and are increasingly focused on the timely implementation of the recommendations that we make. The potential for individual growth in such a stimulating environment is limitless.
