Analyst Programs

Overview

Internship Program

Our Summer Internship Program is designed to offer real insight into our business. The program is one of the most in-depth internships within the financial services industry. From day one you’ll be part of the team. You’ll face real challenges, have real client exposure, enjoy real achievements and have your talents recognized every step of the way.
You’ll be responsible for projects and tasks that matter to the business. You’ll grow in knowledge, skills and confidence. Above all, you’ll experience the team spirit that makes

Credit Suisse such a special place to work.  We will help guide you through your summer experience, and each intern is assigned a mentor and a buddy, so you’ll have all the support you need.
Because we want to bring the very best people into our organization—people who understand our business inside and out—we’ve designed our internships to act as a pipeline into our future full-time classes of new hires. This means that if you show real potential and demonstrate exceptional performance during your time with us, you may be offered a full-time position for the following year.

  • Receive classroom and on-the-job training from experienced business representatives and some of the industry’s top instructors

Investment Banking Department

Fresh thinking and creative solutions to some of the most complex business problems are what goes on within Investment Banking at Credit Suisse. You’ll learn how to put our expertise to work in some of the most intricate and challenging mergers, acquisitions, financings and restructurings in the world. Our Analyst program allows you to:

  • Train in a comprehensive nine week program in our New York office
  • Complete pre-work and recommended reading to enhance your knowledge of the financial industry
  • Gain an understanding of  the market data and technical skills you‘ll use during training
  • Learn corporate valuation, accounting and modelling from some of the industry’s top professionals
  • Apply what you've learned by making final case study presentations to Credit Suisse senior bankers, simulating the experience of pitching to a company's board of directors
  • Learn from the experience of our highly regarded in-house professionals who apply industry knowledge to our Credit Suisse environment

Equities

Lots of energy, effective communication skills, enthusiasm for working as a member of a team and quick, on-your-feet thinking are just a few of the things you’ll need to be part of one of our Equities teams.  You will also need strong analytical skills.  You’ll gain valuable insight into a business that is an integral part of world markets. Collaboration and the sharing of information and ideas are crucial to our profitability and our client relationships.

  • Enhance your relevant functional knowledge with courses and simulations in a tailored curriculum

Fixed Income

Strong quantitative and analytical skills and the ability to assess and interpret risk are a daily part of life on our Fixed Income team. You’ll put your technological and product-based expertise to work in areas ranging from staging plain vanilla financings to delivering advice on liability management, structured finance, and hedging and derivatives.
Split-second thinking is essential to navigating a challenging fixed income environment.

Global Markets Solutions Group

Analyze companies using various and advanced financial techniques. Examine the impact of a transaction on a client's capital structure and business. Interact with both internal and external clientele. You’ll train and work alongside professionals who are recognized as experts in their product groups and who regularly devise and execute transactions that make international headlines.

Our Analyst program allows you to:

  • Train in a program based on your specific desk placement; you’ll participate in our Investment Banking Training Program
  • Complete preprogram work and recommended reading to enhance your knowledge of the financial industry
  • Gain an understanding of the market data and technology tools you’ll use during training

Operations

Help develop and manage products with an eye towards seeking new and innovative ways to support our clients’ changing needs. As an Investment Banking Operations professional, you’ll be part of a team that’s responsible for the management and execution of millions of securities transactions on a daily basis. You’ll be part of the bank’s central nervous system that creates processes and services to maximize profitability while minimizing risk.

Our Analyst program allows you to:

  • Learn about the financial markets and transactions in the “Life Cycle of a Trade” overview
  • Receive business presentations from Credit Suisse professionals
  • Receive an introduction to Operational Excellence (OE) and Greenbelt Training
  • Train in a two-week all-Analyst core program in New York

Alternative Investments

Strategic insight and the ability to understand your clients’ unique investment objectives are what are required in Alternative Investments, a business within our Asset Management division. You’ll have an opportunity to work in an area such as private equity, real estate, hedge strategies, credit investments or diverse strategies. As one of the leaders in this arena, Credit Suisse is able to offer its clients both the scope and the scale to help clients achieve their strategic objectives.

Our Analyst program allows you to:

  • Train in a program based on your specific fund placement; you’ll participate in our Investment Banking Training Program
  • Complete preprogram work and recommended reading to enhance your knowledge of the financial industry
  • Gain an understanding of the market data and technology tools you’ll use during training
  • Listen to business presentations from Credit Suisse professionals

Information Technology

Work with 11,000 highly skilled specialists who work globally using nearly every conceivable area of technology. From application development and business engineering to systems architecture, we are an agile, inventive and highly reliable technology solutions organization. By directly aligning our IT initiatives with the Bank's overall business objectives, the IT Division provides a distinct competitive advantage.

Our Analyst program allows you to:

  • Complete preprogram work and recommended reading to enhance your knowledge of the financial industry
  • Gain an understanding of the market data and technology tools you’ll use during training
  • Listen to business presentations from our internal professionals who apply industry knowledge to our Credit Suisse environment
  • Train in a ten week all-Analyst core program in New York (for New York and Raleigh hires)

Shared Services

Shared Services provides high-quality, critical services to support our three major business divisions, and is vital to Credit Suisse’s success.  Within Shared Services, there are four main areas: the Chief Finance Office (the CFO), Chief Talent, Branding and Communications Office, Chief Risk Office and General Counsel.

We offer a full-time Analyst program in our Chief Finance Office, which allows you to:

  • Train in a comprehensive ten week program
  • Team up in mentor and “buddy” pairs for each rotation

Associate Programs

Overview

Investment Banking

Private Banking

Develop your unique advisory talents in the elite ranks of one of the largest wealth managers worldwide. Private Banking offers comprehensive advice and a broad range of investment products and services tailored to the complex needs of high-net-worth individuals and families. Our Associate program allows you to:

  • Train in a curriculum consisting of Private Banking learning modules, course work, an on-going team case study, a final presentation and business development classes (to help you gain a better understanding of how to start growing your business)
  • Receive technical training to provide an in-depth overview of products and services offered to our clients
  • Set and track your objectives and development points in a rigorous performance management process
  • Hone presentation and interpersonal skills in soft-skills training in preparation for a successful career as a relationship manager

Equities

Quantitative Programs

Overview

Our Summer Internship Programs are designed to offer a real insight into our business. With these programs, you can take advantage of a number of high-impact opportunities in a variety of important areas across Fixed Income and Equities. For candidates interested in IT opportunities, we also offer the IT Quantitative Summer Associate Program in the Americas.

Quantitative programs last 10 weeks.

Quantitative Summer Institute Program

The Quantitative Summer Institute Program is a unique learning opportunity within the Equity and Fixed Income divisions. It is a tailored program that combines classroom and workshop sessions with quantitative project assignments. You’ll be responsible for projects and tasks that matter to the business as you grow in knowledge, skills and confidence.

Program features:

  • Attend a 10-week program, with five weeks of training classes and five weeks of individual projects
  • Participate in a formal mentoring program
  • Attend structured review and feedback sessions
  • Participate in philanthropic and social networking events

The Douglas L. Paul Program for Undergra-duates

The Credit Suisse Douglas L. Paul Program is a rotational summer internship program for college sophomores of African-American, Hispanic/Latino and Native American descent. If selected for this competitive program, you will participate in a unique 10-week program that allows you to rotate through two divisions, including Investment Banking, Equities, Fixed Income and Asset Management. Participants will receive a scholarship. Recipients are selected based on their academic excellence, leadership abilities and interest in the financial services industry.

Eligibility Requirements

You must be enrolled full time (at least 12 credits per semester) at an accredited four-year college and be a sophomore during the application process. Students with strong academic achievement, majoring in any discipline(s), are encouraged to apply and should:

  • Demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills
  • Be actively involved in the community
  • Have a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Show an interest in the financial services industry

Douglas L. Paul Scholarship For Achievement

BA Explorer Program for Undergra-duates

The Credit Suisse BA Explorer Program was created to bring together students of diverse backgrounds to explore the world of business. Throughout the 3- day program, you will be provided with an inside view of the financial services industry, including Investment Banking, Sales and Trading, Research, Asset Management, Shared Services, Operations and Information Technology.
The program is open to first- and

second-year students of African-American, Hispanic/Latino or Native American descent.

BA Explorer Program – College Freshman and Sophomores

The 2012 program is now closed. The application will be available in March 2013.

The MBA Explorer Program is a full day educational outreach program that brings together women who are entering business school in the fall and are interested in a career in financial services. The program provides a unique opportunity for participants to learn first-hand about the exciting world of Wall Street. You will have the chance to attend panels and interactive workshops, receive recruiting suggestions and get to know Credit Suisse representatives.

Credit Suisse Open Perspectives for MBA students

The Credit Suisse Open Perspectives Program provides exposure to Wall Street for first-year lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) MBA students. The program is a two-day overview of the different aspects of Wall Street, from Investment Banking to Private Banking, with a specific focus on highlighting what it's like to be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender on Wall Street.

MBA Military Boot Camp

The Credit Suisse MBA Military Boot Camp, an educational outreach initiative for prior-military MBA candidates who are entering business school this fall and who are interested in a career in financial services. During this day long program you will learn about careers in Investment Banking, Sales and Trading and Private Banking.

You will receive advice from previous Vets who have made the successful transition to Wall Street and will have time to network with members of the Credit Suisse Americas Veterans’ Network, the first such network on Wall Street.
